About The Turkish Maritime Sector

Geographically positioned at the crossroads of Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East, Istanbul is the beating heart of Türkiye’s maritime industry. The wider region encompassing Tuzla, Yalova, and Kocaeli forms one of the world's most diverse, versatile, and capable shipbuilding clusters.

The Turkish maritime sector boasts over 85 active shipyards that have earned global recognition for their operational flexibility, high engineering competence, and competitive delivery times. Turkish shipyards deliver a wide spectrum of vessel types, including tankers, RoRo vessels, passenger ferries, fishing boats, tugs, workboats, naval and patrol ships, heavy lift and offshore support vessels, bulk and container carriers, and superyachts.

In recent years, there has been a notable rise in specialized, environmentally friendly projects, such as hybrid powered vessels and LNG fueled ships. While operating in a highly competitive global market, Turkish shipyards maintain strong activity levels, continuously supported by a steady flow of high value repair, conversion, and retrofitting contracts. Thanks to this extensive infrastructure and expertise, Istanbul continues to reinforce its role as one of the world's most dynamic maritime hubs bridging continents.
